Kék Erdő Alapítvány / Blue Forest Foundation

Sponsorship Overview

Introduction

The Kék Erdő (Blue Forest) Foundation was established in 2017 by Mariann Hornyák to support children and adults with sensory processing disorders in fulfilling their roles in society. The foundation aims to raise awareness and foster value creation within Hungary. Our mission is to enable Hungarian children to live in a community where their differences and unique behaviours are seen as assets, and where they can learn and grow in an environment that nurtures their abilities.

Facts

According to the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH), by 2024, nearly 70,000 children with special educational needs (including autism, severe learning disabilities, behavioural regulation challenges, and attention disorders) will be participating in public education. This number is roughly equivalent to the population of the city of Érd and has increased by 22% since 2020.

The “Invisible” Challenges

Most problems faced by children with special educational needs are invisible. Many children adapt and mask their difficulties to avoid standing out, which aggravates identification and access to the right professionals. Therefore, it is crucial to inform educators about the possible causes of atypical behaviour and direct them toward appropriate resources.

For instance, if an educator has a class of 30 students, and the Kék Erdő (Blue Forest) Foundation has worked with 120 educators by 2024, then the lives of approximately 3,600 children across the country have been positively impacted.

Our Goals

By 2025, we aim to provide free training for 200 educators, enabling inclusive education for approximately 6,000 children.

We also plan to sponsor 50 children with special educational needs for a tailored summer camp led by trained professionals.

To achieve these goals, we need to raise 10 million HUF.

To support fundraising, we are organizing various campaigns, including:

A Santa Gala was on December 7, 2024.

A Fashion Show on May 31, 2025, showcasing a sustainable fashion brand based on upcycling. Revenue from the collection will be donated to the foundation.

Both events will take place at the Millennium Café and Restaurant, located in the Millennium House, Budapest.

Fashion Show

“Every creation begins with destruction!”

The Fashion Show will be held in the rose garden of the Millennium House courtyard, where the UPCY brand will debut. By creatively repurposing unused or outdated clothing, UPCY turns materials destined for waste into fashionable, sustainable pieces.
